Ode to Noah

Today is Noah's birthday. It's crazy to think that he's only been with us for two years, it's hard to remember life without him. This little boy is hilarious, and really is a joy to have in my life. Here's a quick trip down memory lane of the last two years with him.

Stats

I took both boys in to the doctors office today. Noah had his two year checkup, and Kaiden has his two week check up. Here's the stats:

Noah
Height: 36 inches 88%
Weight: 30 lbs 4 oz 78%
Head Circ: 50.6 cm 91%

Kaiden
Height: 21 1/8 inches 62%
Weight: 9 lbs 1 oz 55%
Head Circ: 37.9 cm 64%

In case you were curious Kaiden was 8 lbs 6 oz at birth, and listed as 19 inches, though I think they didn't stretch him very far. 2+ inches in two weeks seems a bit crazy to me.

This is what happens when you ask your almost two year old what he wants for lunch

Some firsts

I've been out of the house a few times since K was born, but always with Z, and going really really slow on things. Yesterday I went down to my mom's house for the day, and it was so nice to feel like I had the freedom to go somewhere without help from another adult. Today I took it a step further and took my two boys to Wal-Mart. We didn't really need anything, other than to get out of the house. It was crazy windy today, the car door went flying open when I went to get the baby out, but honestly the trip went really really well. It's so nice to feel like I have some freedom again and that I'm physically capable of doing things.

The other big thing is that I've done today completely by myself. I've had someone helping me every other day since K was born, and heck, even a few days before he was born. But today Z left for work at his regular time this morning, I've gone through the day by myself, and no one has died. To take it one step even further, Z has class tonight and probably won't be home until at least 9. My parents are going to drop by this evening to help get the boys to bed, but I'm fully confident in myself to be able to do it on my own if I need to. It's a great feeling.

Here's a comparison of my two boys. Think they look like brothers?
Not the best pictures to compare I know, but it's the best I can do for now.

Today was my first day at home with my two boys by myself, and honestly it went a LOT better than I was expecting. Granted we had an occasional hiccup, but that happens whenever a toddler is involved with anything doesn't it? Noah has adjusted really well to having a baby brother around. He entertains himself while Kaiden is eating or I'm changing diapers, and for the most part he ignores the baby, which is exactly what I want for now.
